How to Download Your Raw DNA Data

Before you can use GenomeHack, you need a raw DNA data file from a consumer genetic testing service. Here is how to download it from the most popular providers.
23andMe
- Log in to your 23andMe account at 23andme.com.
- Navigate to Settings (click your name in the top right).
- Scroll down to 23andMe Data and click Download Raw Data.
- Enter your password and complete any two-factor authentication.
- Click Submit Request. You will receive an email when the file is ready (usually within a few minutes).
- Download the
.txtor.zipfile. This is what you upload to GenomeHack.
AncestryDNA
- Log in to your Ancestry account at ancestry.com.
- Go to DNA → Settings.
- Click Download Raw DNA Data.
- Confirm your identity via email verification.
- Download the
.zipfile once the link arrives in your email.
MyHeritage
- Log in at myheritage.com and go to DNA.
- Click the three-dot menu next to your DNA kit and select Download Raw DNA data.
- Confirm your password and download the file.
Other services
GenomeHack supports raw data from most major providers including FamilyTreeDNA, LivingDNA, and others. Look for a "Download Raw Data" option in your account settings. The file is usually a.txt or .csv file inside a .zip archive.
